Rare Specter Werkes GTR could be yours for just above $25k

A 15-year-old Specter Werkes/Sports GTR sports car is up for grabs in the United States right now. The car, which represents a heavily modified Chevrolet Corvette C6, is extremely rare and has a current top bid of just $25,300, but there is still time before the end of the auction.
The now-defunct company introduced the GTR in 2008. Compared to the Corvette it was based upon, the main difference was the body, of which only the roof and the rear window stayed intact. The fenders, the bumpers, the hood, the lighting all around and the entire rear end were brand-new. Some parts were even made from carbon fiber.
From the design standpoint, the track-only Corvette C6.R was the obvious inspiration. New components made the car 115 mm (4.5 inches) wider than stock.
In addition to the exterior, the team upgraded the powertrain. The GTR series offered up to 800 horsepower (596 kilowatts), but this particular example was specced with an entry-level Chevrolet V8 stroked to 6.8 liters of displacement and rebuilt with a host of modifications. In its glory days, it was sending 535 horsepower and 720 Nm (531 lb-ft) of torque to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission.
Other examples of aftermarket additions include Hotchkis sway bars, StopTech performance brakes, and 20-inch Forgeline wheels.
The owner mentions nothing of the kind, but the car on sale could actually be one of the first ever built – note the center console plaque with the serial number ‘08-001-01’. The mileage is below 30,000 km (18,600 mi).
