Honda to produce a couple of electric SUVs

Honda has shared the first preview of the two SUVs it will reveal at the upcoming auto show in Shanghai. Both will be part of the all-electric e:N lineup. AutoHome believes the image shows one and the same car that may reach production under two different badges in China: Dongfeng and GAC.
The teaser partially confirms this theory. The outlines of the vehicles are nearly the same with only the colors somewhat different. The front fasciae are visibly different, but that’s about all.
This would not be the first time Honda let its partner companies in China launch badge-engineered models. The other two models currently populating the e:N lineup – the e:NP1 and e:NS1 pictured in the rest of the gallery and the attached video – are essentially the same car, just differently trimmed.
These vehicles were the first to reach production out of the five concepts Honda unveiled in October 2021. It seems likely that the new model shown on today’s teaser will also be based on an earlier concept. The strategy of the company involves complementing the e:N lineup with a coupe and a sedan, and ultimately increasing the model count to 10. Honda is already constructing new joint enterprises in China to this end.
