It’s Official: Ford Transit Connect to leave North America after 2023

The Ford Transit Connect is a true workhorse as compact vans go, but it never managed to get a firm hold on the U.S. market, prompting rumors about its impending discontinuation. Now, a new press release from Ford confirmed that the model would leave the market and only remain in Europe.
For a bit of retrospective: the original Transit Connect arrived in the United States 13 years ago. Its second design iteration debuted in 2012 and received its planned update seven years later. Before saying farewell to the van, Ford had intended to release another generation first, but it is no longer in the plans.
The company had considered moving production to Mexico and make the new Transit Connect on the same platform as the Bronco Sport. However, according to the press release, it ultimately had to back down from that decision. On the one hand, it had to cut expenses as much as possible, and on the other hand, it realized that the compact van segment was steadily losing customers.
