Unique TVR Speed 12 heading to auction in May

The world’s one and only road-legal TVR Cerbera Speed 12 will cross the auction near the end of the spring, expected to fetch a small fortune thanks to being even rarer than the marque’s other niche supercars.
The Speed 12 is known for its extreme power output, complex handling and a total lack of any creature comforts in the cockpit. The owner of this example still ordered it retrofitted for road driving. The team behind the project replaced the stock bodywork with a carbon-fiber body of a racecar and put number plates and side mirrors on it.
The resulting build weighs under a metric ton (2,200 pounds) and has a completely stripped interior with no noise proofing whatsoever. There are bucket seats and a roll cage inside, and little else.
According to different sources, the 7.7-liter V12 under the hood produces either 840 or 880 metric horsepower, which translates into 829/868 U.S. horsepower or 618/647 kilowatts, respectively. A six-speed manual transmission conveys the torque to the rear wheels. The sprint from zero to 96.6 km/h (60 mph) succeeds in under 3 seconds, and the top speed is 386 km/h (240 mph).
