Suzuki Jimny 5-Door version bows in India
Suzuki has finally removed the wraps from its long-anticipated five-door Jimny SUV. The premiere took place earlier today at the Auto Expo 2023 in India.
Like its three-door cousin, the new Jimny 5-Door boasts a body-on-frame construction, but the dimensions are much larger in order to accommodate the third seat row. The company provides the following comparison (in metric units): SWB Jimny for Japan – 3,395 mm long, LWB Jimny for the international market – 3,645 mm long, Jimny 5-Door – 3,985 mm. The latter also enjoys 2,590 mm of wheelbase.
From the aesthetic point of view, the SUV keeps its boxy appearance, radiator grille, flared fenders and round headlamps. It is painted Kinetic Yellow with a black roof for contrast and rides on 15-inch wheels shod in 195/80 tires.
The rear row can accommodate up to three passengers. The trunk size is rather modest at 208 liters, but you can extend it to 332 liters by folding down the bench.
Power originates from a 1.5-liter petrol engine mildly hybridized for a combined output of 105 PS (104 hp / 77 kW) and 134 Nm (99 lb-ft) of torque.
