Check out a 900-PS Brabus G-Wagon truck
Brabus has complemented its already impressive tuning portfolio with yet another entry, a pickup called the P 900 Rocket Edition. The company merged two of its earlier Mercedes G-Class projects in this one, and the result will be produced in a batch of 10 units.
The monster truck runs on the same powertrain as the Brabus Rocket 900. The Mercedes V8 under the hood has been stroked from 4.0 to 4.5 liters of displacement and boosted to 900 PS (888 hp / 662 kW). A nine-speed automatic transmission drives the wheels through a permanent AWD system and three diff locks. You can catch a glimpse of the engine through a see-through window in the hood cover.
In turn, the body comes from the stretched Brabus 800 Adventure XLP Superblack pickup. The main difference is that the Superblack runs on custom portal axles, while the newcomer makes do with the original G-Wagon chassis. The ground clearance is 45 mm (1.8 inches) lower than that of the original Mercedes-AMG G 63, and the driver can adjust damper stiffness straight from the cabin.
Tipping the scales at 2,720 kilograms (6,000 pounds), the truck snaps from standstill and hits 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.7 seconds. The Rocket 900 SUV mentioned above has the same sprint time despite being around 160 kilos (350 pounds) lighter. The top speed is hard-capped at 280 km/h (174 mph) due to tire limitations.
The demo car shown in the gallery here boasts red accents outside and inside, as well as plenty of backlighting – even the exhaust tips are illuminated. The wheel arches are occupied by 24-inch forged wheels with carbon-fiber trim pieces. The brakes use 400mm rotors at the front axle and 370mm ones in the back.
Brabus is asking a cool €650,000 for the car depicted here before all taxes. This means a €170,000 premium over the Rocket 900, but is still €75,000 under the price tag of the portal-axled 800 Adventure XLP Superblack.
