Tesla recalling nearly 1.1M cars over power window issues
Tesla has initiated a recall campaign affecting 1,096,762 vehicles, including Model 3 EVs manufactured in 2017–2022, Model Y made in 2020–2022, and Model S and X cars made in 2021 and 2022. The issue lies in the way power windows work.
Apparently, the electric drives controlling the power windows in the cars mentioned above may not stop in time to prevent injury when an obstacle is detected. The sensitivity threshold is set too low in software, potentially leading to injuries before the system recognizes the issue and rolls back the glass.
Tesla discovered the defect on its own while conducting an internal testing routine around a month ago. All affected cars will be updated automatically in the ‘over the air’ (OTA) fashion – visiting a dealership is not required.
