Lotus to produce a sedan for the first time in three decades

According to Autocar, Lotus will design and produce a luxury electric sedan next based on Polestar 5 platform. The last time the British automaker made a sedan was in the 1990s, and it was called the Omega (see video).
Allegedly, the company did not reveal any details, saying simply that the sedan would become its most opulent vehicle to date and deliver a truly individualized experience to the driver. The implication is that it may become a direct competitor of the Porsche Taycan.
Select customers have already been shown the design of the car and made their pre-orders. How many units will be made remains unannounced at the moment, but like all other Lotus models, this one’s name is guaranteed to begin with an E.
Speaking of the Polestar 5, its prototype version debuted at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed packing a powertrain capable of 884 PS (872 hp / 650 kW) and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of torque. The production car is expected to arrive in 2024 and have considerably less power than that.
