Mercedes-AMG C 43 presents specs ahead of launch
Mercedes has begun unveiling its next-gen AMG C-Class lineup with the entry-level C 43 model. All prices will become available closer to the launch, which will take place later in the year.
The car does not look much different from the current generation with the same AMG Panamericana grille above a slightly retouched front bumper. Black trim details replace chrome ones all around, and there is a slim trunk spoiler in the back along with quad round tailpipes.
Powering the new C 43 is an M139l engine with two liters of displacements, four cylinders, a turbocharger and a 48V electric add-on. The system churns out 408 PS (402 hp / 300 kW) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque to all four wheels through a nine-speed DCT gearbox. Drivers enjoy access to a variety of drive modes and a feature called Race Start, which should nail the launch in acceleration races.
Speaking of which, the C 43 needs 4.6 seconds to get to 100 km/h (62 mph) and hits its electronic speed limit at 250 km/h (155 mph). If you opt for 19- or 20-inch wheels, however, the speed cap will be raised to 265 km/h (164 mph).
The interior shows obvious S-Class influences throughout, combining them with sport seats, AMG wheel and AMG pedals, and red stitching all around.
