Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance bows with hybrid power
Mercedes-AMG has introduced its most powerful production car ever – a part electric hatchback named the GT 63 S E Performance. AMG’s first hybrid will be seen live at the IAA Munich 2021 in a few days.
A four-liter V8 works in tandem with a rear-mounted electric motor for a total of 843 PS (831 hp / 620 kW) and 1,470 Nm (1,084 lb-ft) of torque. The car zaps from nothing to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.9 seconds and maxes out at 316 km/h (196.4 miles per hour). Its permanent AWD system supports Drift Mode, and the transmission is nine-speed automatic. The motor gets its power from a small 6.1-kWh battery rated for only 12 kilometers (7.5 miles) of all-electric driving.
The body kit draws obvious inspiration from the AMG GT series. There are ‘E Performance’ captions on the fenders to let everyone know you are driving an EV. Aside from that, customers can pick their favorite exterior color, choose between 20- and 21-inch wheels, and personalize their rides using options from the AMG Night Package and Carbon Package.
Ceramic brakes and the latest MBUX infotainment system are included in the standard trim level. The infotainment displays your remaining electric range, power expenditure, and motor temperature.
