Lamborghini Countach bows with 812 PS, 0-100 km/h in 2.8 seconds
Following a series of teasers, Lamborghini has finally unveiled its resurrected Countach supercar. The original coupe was discontinued in 1990, and it looks like the new one lives up to its hype. Let’s see what it is about.
While the first-gen Countach came powered by a V12 rated at just 455 PS (450 hp / 335 kW), the new one is a hybrid based on a massive 6.5-liter V12 and an electric motor built into a DSG transmission. The resulting output amounts to 814 PS (803 hp / 600 kW), taking the coupe from standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.8 seconds. The top speed is 355 km/h (221 mph).
Design-wise, the car sports a characteristic tapered body, the same headlight location and shape as the original, as well as similar-looking wheel arches, air intakes and exhaust finishers. The cabin sports a red leather trim with other luxury materials used throughout. As a surprise for buyers, Lamborghini includes a documentary dedicated to designing the original Countach with the car.
A total of 112 production units will be made, and prices remain to be announced.
