Ford F-150 Lightning sells like hot cakes, passes 100,000 in 3 weeks
Ford has confirmed that is collected over 100,000 pre-orders for the all-electric Ford F-150 Lightning truck within just three weeks from the announcement, calling it ‘a great success’.
It seems like Americans tend to prefer battery-powered trucks to their ICE counterparts now. Ford let it slip that it was thinking about developing another compact-sized truck model to sell alongside the recently debuted Maverick. The latter will not be available in Europe, while the former might go on sale there.
Back to the F-150 Lightning, though. The company reports having registered 20,000 pre-orders on May 20 alone, 44,500 on the next day, 70,000 by May 27, and ultimately 100,000 by June 9.
We suspect that the demand could skyrocket, among other things, thanks to the announcement of a commercial truck version named Lightning Pro on May 24. The car will retail for U.S. $39,974 with a standard battery and $10,000 above that with an extra-large battery.
