Daimler busy working on 700+km battery tech
Daimler AG and CATL have united efforts to develop and produce a traction battery for electric vehicles that will enable them to cover up to 700 kilometers (435 miles) without needing to recharge.
Success in this field will not only take the hassle out of driving your EV in the city, but also lend comfort to longer highway trips. It will also serve to increase the appeal of electrified transports.
The companies expect to start building cars with the new battery design on board before the end of 2020, but market-oriented mass production won’t launch until 2021.
According to CATL and Daimler, once the technology is ready it will be available for other interested businesses to license.
