The car is still technically considered a concept and may or may not make it into production. Jeep CEO Jim Morrison says he would like to gather consumer feedback before deciding on production.

The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 sports a folding top instead of a fixed hard top and wears a stylish Granite Crystal paint juxtaposed against bronze details and red leather interior with its golden stitching and a new steering wheel.

The number 392 refers to the displacement volume of the 6.4-liter V8 expressed in cubic inches. The mill generates 456 hp (340 kW) and 610 Nm (450 lb-ft) of torque and links to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Hitting 60 mph (97 km/h) from standstill is a matter of less than five seconds, the company reports.

The permanent AWD system incorporates a two-step Selec-Track distribution gear, Tru-Lok differential locks and Dana 44 axles. 17-inch wheels come wrapped in 37-inch tires.

The design study also has the Jeep Performance Parts package installed, which lifts its suspension by a couple inches (5cm) to 13.1 inches (33.65cm) total. It can traverse water as high as 2’10” (864mm) and has the following approach, departure and ramp: 51.6°, 29.5° and 40.1°.

The exhaust system supports two modes of operation that you can switch between using a button. The framework and the engine housing have been reworked, and the suspension enhanced using Fox single-tube shock absorbers.

The last time a Wrangler SUV received an eight-cylinder engine was in 1981. The Jeep CJ packed a non-turbo V8 rated at 127 hp (95 kW) and 298 Nm (220 lb-ft) of torque.
